For a special host gift or housewarming, how about this large "welcome soap" by Japanese maker Tamanohada?  The Tai (red snapper) fish is the "tai" in medetai which means congratulations. Tai is often served at celebrations and is congratulatory about peoples good luck.  Anyone would be lucky to get this special soap on a rope - medetai!  The shape is made with a carved wood mold and 100% linen rope.
