Wooden Vase #1 by Kanji Matsumoto
Feast your eyes on this beautiful hand carved vase by Japanese artisan Kanji Matsumoto, the textures of the wood hand carved are a sight to behold, by itself or the textures will just compliment any floral arrangement you choose. The vase includes a removable glass beaker which functions as an inner vase to hold water and not hurt the wooden insides. Though live or dried arrangements are equally beautiful with this vase. It is a piece that Matsumoto san and ourselves would hope you would keep for a very long time.
We have long been an admirer of Kanji Matsumoto work. He used to build and repair Buddha statues before he became a woodworker. His love of surfing influences his work and the rhythms he reveals in his woodworking. His mission is to convey the wisdom and value of the trees he sources. Each piece is made to last and will imbue your home with the beauty of the outdoors.
If you feel the wood becomes a bit dry, you can easily polish it with a wood polish, thought we know we are not going to use these beautiful vases as a vessel for food, you might as well use an oil that is food safe for all your other wooden utensils. We recommend the wood-polish made from beeswax and mineral oil from our beloved neighbor the Foundry Home Goods. It is worth reading their description, swear it will make you laugh.
